Why running ByteMate costs money — and how it's funded

A short, honest explanation of where Premium and the donation fee go, and the two things ByteMate will never do to make money.

The core is free — and stays free

ByteMate is free to use. Chat commands, alerts, watchtime, giveaways, polls, bingo, multiviewer, filters, the OBS chat overlay — the everyday tools cost nothing and aren't crippled to push you toward paying. Premium exists only for a small set of advanced, resource-heavy features.

Running it costs real money

Servers, databases, bandwidth, third-party APIs and payment processing cost money every single month — whether ten people or ten thousand use ByteMate. That bill has to be covered somehow. Premium subscriptions and a small fee on donations are how ByteMate stays online and keeps improving, without a big company behind it.

No ads, and no data selling

These are the two things ByteMate will never make money from. No advertising cluttering your stream and dashboard — and your data is never for sale, to anyone. Your Twitch connection uses only official access you can revoke anytime, and your data serves only the features you switch on yourself.

Why there's a fee on donations

When viewers tip you through ByteMate's own donation feature, a small fee on top of the payment provider's costs keeps that system running and the rest of ByteMate affordable. It applies only to ByteMate's own donations — tips from another service like Ko-fi or Tipeeestream that you just show as a chat alert stay completely fee-free.

Want to support ByteMate directly?

Premium and donation fees keep the lights on — but if you simply want to chip in because you like what ByteMate stands for, you can. It's completely optional and goes straight toward keeping ByteMate independent, ad-free and privacy-first.

Fair, funded, and independent

That's the whole deal: a free core, an optional Premium for the heavy features, a small donation fee — no ads, and your data never for sale. Thanks for being part of it.
